The international natural stone trade
fair »Stone+tec« in N¨¹rnberg will take place in
two years at a new running time from Wednesday to
Saturday (previously Thursday to Sunday) and no
longer in the week containing Ascension Day, but
after Whitsun (25-28 May 2005).
»This decision is in line with suggestions from
exhibitors, exhibition committee and sponsors and
considerations by the organizer«, says Walter
Hufnagel, Member of the Management Board of N¨
¹rnbergMesse, justifying the decision. »The
attendance will therefore be better distributed
over the four days of the exhibition, as the
Sunday traditionally attracted the fewest
visitors.
In addition, the first day of the exhibition is
now no longer a public holiday, but a full
working day.« In their assessment of the current
situation in the industry, both exhibitors and
visitors at Stone+tec 2003 arrive at similar
results: According to a survey conducted during
the exhibition, only 16 % of the exhibitors and
21 % of the visitors expect an upward trend, but
more than half expect the situation in the
industry to continue to weaken.
The look into the future is also still sceptical,
but a little more confident: At least a third of
the exhibitors and a quarter of the visitors
venture a positive forecast for the coming years.
