Stone Shanghai 2005--Infinite Business Opportunities
The remarkable growth of Shanghai's economy and the tremendous development of the city constructions have provided the immense space for the growth of the stone industry. Shanghai has become the biggest center of stone consumption, sales, market information and technical application.
1、Analysis of Gross
In 2003, the circulating amount (overall turnover) of Shanghai stone industry has reached RMB 18 billion. The gross amount of the use of stone materials and slates came up to 25 million square meters and the value of it was RMB 8 billion. The consumption of stone materials ranks Shanghai 1st in the whole country. The gross amount of the marble was about 14 million square meters and the value was RMB 4.5 billion. While the granite was 11 million square meters and the value was RMB 3.5 billion. Among of the marble and granite materials, the gross amount of the imported stone materials and the domestic stone materials were in the ratio of three to seven. After the success of Shanghai'bid to host the World EXPO 2010, a great many projects and programs relating to the real estate, the stadiums and the roads etc will bring more stone business opportunities. We suppose that the market of Shanghai stone industry will increase at the speed of 20 per cent annually.
2、Analysis of Imported Market
In 2003, the imported stone materials of the whole country reached 3.4 million tons. Among of those, the marble was 1.9 million tons. So it made China become the 2nd biggest stone imported country in the world. The amount of the imported stone materials of Shanghai was 0.08 million tons, 0.2 million tons, 0.35 million tons from 2001 to 2003 in turn. Among of these, the amount of the marble was 0.055 million tons, 0.13 million tons, 0.185 million tons in turn. Besides supporting the imported growth at the rate of 80 per cent, the potential stone application market of Shanghai also attacks the stone resources from Fujian, Guangdong etc so that it can meet the demands of Shanghai and radiate to the East China district and inland. Those are produced by the stone enterprises of Shanghai and some parts of them are exported.
