Beijing GDP grows by 11.5% in 2006 |

Jan. 5, 2006 (China Knowledge) – Beijing’s GDP has grown by 11.5% to US$7919.25, surpassing the forecast set at the beginning of the year by 2.5 percentage points. The per capita income for 2006 reached US$6,000, a target set by the Beijing government for 2008, a sign that Beijing residents have attained middle-income status by international standards. According to statistics, per capita income has been growing - from breaking past the US$1,000 mark in 1994 to more than US$3,000 in 2001 and US$5,000 in 2005.
