Datang might face regulatory bank over pollution

Jan. 11, 2007 (China Knowledge) – Datang International Power Generation might be facing a regulatory ban on all of its proposed power projects as the State Environmental Protection Administration said that Datang has failed to comply with the order to close 250 megawatts of small and inefficient generators.


The generators, located in Tangshan, Hebei province, were ordered by the environmental watchdog in October to be closed by the end of last year.


The State Environmental Protection Administration’s statement came about as the Hong Kong-listed Datang announced an expansion plan in Inner Mongolia, where Mengdian Huaneng Thermal Power’s Tuoketuo power plant will be expanded by two-thirds at a cost of RMB 10.19 billion.
