Chinalco's net profit increases by 66.7% |

Jan. 17, 2007 (China Knowledge) – Aluminum Corp of China (Chinalco), the parent of Aluminum Corp of China Ltd (Chalco), announced that its profit increased by 66.7% year-on-year to RMB 22.5 billion for the fiscal 2006. Sales stood at RMB 105.5 billion, a 72.9% increase. Chinalco vice-general manager Lu Youqing told Shanghai Securities News that the company has nearly completed major merger and acquisition deals in China, adding that it has no plans this year to set up new aluminum plants. Chinalco in 2006 started two aluminum plants in Chongqing Municipality and Zunyi in southwestern China's Guizhou Province. Looking forward, the company aims to raise its aluminum production target to 3.41 million tons, while its aluminum output target is set at between 9.6 million tons and 10 million tons.
