Jan. 18, 2007 (China Knowledge) – The jet fuel surcharge on domestic flights will be reduced by 20%, said the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

Starting from Jan. 21, the jet fuel surcharge for short flights will be reduced from RMB 60 to RMB 50, while flights over 800 km will be reduced from RMB 100 to RMB 80. The NDRC added that the decrease is in accordance with the drop in the price of aviation kerosene of RMB 90 per ton.

The previous fuel surcharge increase was in Aug. 2006, when jet fuel surcharge on domestic flights of under 800 km was increased from RMB 30 to RMB 60 per passenger, while those flying to further destinations will pay a RMB 100 surcharge, up from RMB 60.
