Jan. 18, 2007 (China Knowledge) – Xinwei Telecom Technology Inc, the main developer of China's home-grown TD-SCDMA 3G standard, will be launching its IPO on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZE) by the end of March.

Li Fang, an official from the company's marketing department, confirmed with China Daily of a domestic IPO. Further details, however, were not provided. The Beijing-based company has reportedly been seeking an overseas listing to finance its expansion since 2004.

Xinwei Telecom, founded in 1995, is a joint venture between Datang Group and U.S.-based Cwill. The company has sole intellectual property rights for the SCDMA (synchronous code division multiple access) standard for wireless access service, the core technology behind China's TD-SCDMA 3G standard. In 2005, sales for the company totaled RMB 1 billion while profit was RMB 200 million.
