Jan. 18, 2007 (China Knowledge) – The China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) announced on Wednesday that its oil and gas operations have expanded to 25 countries in 65 projects. Overseas projects saw annual output of crude oil exceeding 50 million tons and natural gas output surpassing five billion cubic meters annually. With an increase in foreign oil and gas reserves, CNPC overtook American firm Chevron and France's Total to become the world’s seventh largest oil firm according to a ranking compiled by the U.S.-based Petroleum Intelligence Weekly based on indices including oil and gas reserves, oil and gas output and sales volume.
