Jan. 24, 2007 (China Knowledge) – Former Ford dealer New Baoding Group has filed a lawsuit against the general manager of Changan Ford Sales Co. for defamation.
The Shanxi-based New Baoding has brought the case to Beijing's Chaoyang District Court, demanding that general manager of Changan Ford Sales Co., David G. Thomas, stop making damaging statements. Thomas had allegedly said at several news conferences that the dealer failed to meet required standards of service and ranked worst in sales among all of its distributors.
Huang Weiming, general manager of New Baoding’s sales group, said that from 2003 to 2005, New Baoding ranked first in sales and service in Shanxi Province. He added that the company’s after-sale service held the leading position in northern China for the first half of 2006, before the partnership broke down.
And in a bid to get even, New Baoding announced plans to disclose alleged quality defects in Chang'an Ford's models on Mar. 15, China's consumer rights protection day.
