Jan. 25, 2007 (China Knowledge) – China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 10.7% year-on-year in 2006, announced the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday. Xie Fuzhan, commissioner of the NBS, also announced at a press conference that the GDP expanded 10.4% during the fourth quarter of 2006. The NBS also revised the GDP figures for the other three quarters of 2006: the first quarter GDP was revised to 10.4% from 10.3%, the second quarter’s to 11.5% from 11.3%, and the third quarter’s to 10.6% from 10.4%.
China’s official GDP target for 2006 was 8%.
