Feb. 12, 2007 (China Knowledge) – U.S. Airways Group Inc, unsuccessful in a hostile bid for Delta Air Lines Inc last month, will seek authorization from the U.S. government to begin flights to China in 2008.

Should U.S. Airways get approval for the nonstop route, it will specify what cities it would serve in a couple of weeks, said spokeswoman Andrea Rader to Xinhua news agency on Friday.

American, United, Continental and Northwest, four of the five-largest U.S. carriers, already have U.S.-China service. American Airlines has said it will bid for more China routes.
