Feb. 22, 2007 (China Knowledge) – China produced 110 million kilowatts (KW) of power generators in 2006, up 27% from the previous year, said the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in its latest report. The report said Chinese enterprises have developed state-of-the-art technologies for manufacturing 300,000 KW and 600,000 KW generators, and have also increased homemade parts in million KW-level generators. China's power generators produced a total output value of RMB 92.5 billion, increasing by 24% over the previous year. The report said that, driven by huge power demand, China's power equipment manufacturing industry has maintained fairly rapid growth in recent years. In 2006, China's power industry installed some 100 million KW of power generators, bringing the total installed capacity to 622 million KW, ranking second in the world. According to the country's 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010), by 2010, China’s total installed capacity will hit 840 million KW.
