Yangtze River Delta reports combined GDP of RMB 4 trillion |

Feb. 27, 2007 (China Knowledge) – According to statistics from the Jiangsu Statistics Bureau, 16 cities in the Yangtze River Delta had a combined GDP of RMB 3.95 trillion in 2006, an increase of RMB 556.3 billion from 2005. The GDP of the Yangtze River Delta, which has been growing on an average of 14.7%, accounted for approximately 18.9% of China’s total GDP of RMB 20.94 trillion. Among the cities, Shanghai was the first city to have its GDP hit a trillion RMB last year, at RMB 1.03 trillion. Meanwhile, eight cities in Jiangsu province achieved a combined RMB 1.7 trillion in GDP and seven cities in Zhejiang province achieved a total GDP of RMB 1.1 trillion.
