Feb. 28, 2007 (China Knowledge) – Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group (Datang Group) is expected to receive about RMB 4 billion from the government to help in a corporate restructuring, reported the 21st Century Business Herald yesterday.

According to the report, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission would be giving Datang the financial aid.

Datang Group, which is held by the state-owned China Academy Telecommunication Technology, has two subsidiaries – Shanghai-listed Datang Telecom and Datang Mobile. The latter is one of the developers of China’s own third generation (3G) TD-SCDMA network.

The cash injection from the government is supposed to help Datang restructure and reduce the group’s debt, the Herald report said. The fresh capital would also be enough for carrying out commercial trials of TD-SCDMA services led by China Mobile Communications in 10 cities later this year, it said.
