Mar. 9, 2007 (China Knowledge) – Yahoo! China is being sued by 11 record companies, including international music heavyweights EMI, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music and Universal Music. The case, which seeks RMB 5.5 million in damages, is led by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The federation has been talking to Yahoo China since April last year about providing links to the unlicensed music on its website. The case, filed on Jan. 3, was accepted by Beijing's Intermediate Court. The court found Baidu, the Mainland's largest search engine, not guilty of similar charges in November last year.
